The main requirement is that the predicted rate of carbon dioxide emission from the dwelling (known as the Dwelling Emission Rate or DER) is no more than the target emission rate set in the regulations (the Target Emission Rate). Both the DER and the TER are calculated using the latest version of the government’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP 2012).
We can complete SAP calculations for new dwellings, working from plans and specification information you provided, and can issue the reports required by Building Control.
We have carried out compliance calculations for national house-builders and independent architects and designers. You can view a sample report here.
We often find that the initial design of a dwelling does not meet the regulations. Our long-experience working on SAP, and our familiarity with the Building Regulations, means we can also advise on design solutions that will enable to dwelling to meet the Regulations.
If you think you will need SAP calculations we recommend an initial discussion at an early of the design process. We are happy to discuss the performance standards likely to be required to achieve compliance.
